Antibody production is time consuming and has a tendency to generate low yields all of which costs antibody manufacturers time and money. ImmunoGenes' solution is a genetic modification that leads to the overexpression of a particular receptor (FcRn). This receptor overexpression, in turn, makes these animals ideal for the production of high antibody yields with very low levels of degradation. Using such animals, sufficient quantities of polyclonal antibodies can be harvested far faster than using standard techniques. FcRn overexpression not only extends the IgG half-life, but also enhances the expansion of antigen-specific B cells and plasma cells, thus offering major advantages in monoclonal antibody production where the goal is to generate a large antigen-specific B-cell pool from the spleen to form hybridomas against weakly immunogenic proteins and peptides. ImmunoGenes AG is incorporated in Zug, Switzerland. The Company was founded in 2008 and is the owner (100%) of the Budapest subsidiary ImmunoGenes Kft, a 2007 spin-off from the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest and Agricultural Biotechnology Center, Gödöllö.
